About The Role
We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist Consultant for our Cloud Accounting Practice. In this role you'll own the payroll function for a range of small to midsized organizations in a broad range of industries. Your hours will fluctuate depending on your schedule and our needs.

You’re an experienced payroll specialist professional looking for part-time/casual/flexible hours, remote work, and/or the freedom to work with your own clients as well as ours.
As an ideal candidate, you can take complete ownership of the payroll function for a range of clients, and communicate and collaborate effectively with peers, managers, and executives. Payroll is your passion. You’re happy in a position that is solely focused on payroll. You know and appreciate various payroll systems and generally see the value in improving the payroll function through the adoption of new technology. You're a problem-solver who, like us, is passionate about doing things right, enabling leadership teams to make better business decisions.
What You’ll Do
Each day looks a little different here at Business Sherpa Group, but in this role you can expect to…

Manage the full-cycle payroll function for a small number of organizations; working closely with them to prioritize your work to meet their business needs.

Process pay on a bi-weekly and year-end basis.

Provide coaching, guidance and instruction related to payroll procedures and processes.

Prepare pay adjustments due to finals, retirements, resignations, and cancelled cheques.

Respond to inquiries from employees on various facets of payroll.

Process payroll-related journal entries, direct deposit functions, ROE, T4 and other annual payroll remittances.

Research and investigate payroll discrepancies.

Competently use software such as QuickBooks Online, Ceridian. ADP, Wagepoint and MS Excel.
What We’re Looking For

3+ years’ hands-on experience executing complex payroll operations.

Canada Payroll Association certification, such as PCP or CPM.

High level of proficiency with payroll software/systems such as Ceridian, ADP, Wagepoint and QuickBooks.

Strong knowledge of employment standards legislation.

An autonomous and collaborative nature, with great interpersonal skills.

Outstanding client-service orientation.

Strong organizational abilities and high ethical standards.

Driven to do things right and take a constructive approach to solving problems.
