The primary purpose of this position is the preparation and disbursement of Company’s payroll for all US and Canadian associates on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. This position also supervises maintenance of the automated payroll system and assists in maintenance of system modules and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality relative to personal data.
Essential Functions
- Submit payroll information for bi-weekly and weekly US and Canada payroll in a timely manner.
- Process checks, direct deposits, stop payments, deductions, and adjustments in compliance with applicable laws.
- Calculate garnishment deductions and initiate appropriate payments.
- Monitor timely payments of federal, FICA, state, local and unemployment payroll taxes and provide support to the tax service.
- Provide customer service to all associates relating to pay and Human Resources information.
- Compile reports for and respond to inquiries from government agencies, accounting and auditors, as well as verify and prepare W2 and other year end information.
- Responsible for knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to payroll process and adapting the system to handle new requirements of both management and tax laws.
- Maintain time and attendance system for tracking vacation and attendance, as well as train supervisors and managers on the system.
Experience, Education and Skills
- HS Diploma or GED
- Associates degree or higher preferred
- 3+ years experience in a payroll capacity is required, 5 or more years of experience is preferred
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations
- Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Products
- Certified Payroll Professional Preferred
