Join RAC as a Partner – Risk & Compliance Oversight, where you’ll champion effective risk management and ensure robust compliance across RAC Insurance. In this pivotal role, you will provide independent oversight, specialised advice, and strategic leadership to support senior management and enhance our risk-aware culture. 

 

About the Role: 

As a direct report to the Insurance Head of Risk & Compliance (APRA designated Chief Risk Officer), you will collaborate with senior leaders to monitor RAC Insurance’s risk profile, support decision-making with critical insights, and help to enable compliance across complex regulatory requirements.

Your role will include driving continuous improvement in risk practices, delivering strategic oversight, and leading Line 2 assurance reviews in areas like cyber, privacy, supplier risk, and more. You will also provide oversight of the implementation significant regulatory change programs including FAR and CPS230. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and enhance the RAC Insurance risk and compliance oversight strategy, with a focus on further strengthening our proactive risk culture. 

  • Conduct Line 2 assurance reviews and drive improvements across technical risk areas. 

  • Oversee and challenge RAC Insurance’s risk profile, ensuring alignment with risk appetites and tolerances. 

  • Provide SME advice to senior management and deliver timely, insightful reports on risk and compliance performance. 

  • Build and sustain professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators (e.g., ASIC, APRA). 

  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to foster growth and alignment with organisational goals. 

 

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Experience: Extensive experience in risk or compliance roles within financial services or regulated industries, ideally insurance. 

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of APRA standards, the Insurance Contracts Act, and the General Insurance Code of Conduct. 

  • Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to diverse audiences. 

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in risk management, insurance, or a related field (industry memberships a plus).
