Paralegal – Advertising & Marketing Compliance (Automotive)
Location: This position is remote within the Detroit metropolitan area of The United States. 

Huge is seeking a highly detail-oriented Paralegal with specialized experience in advertising and marketing compliance, particularly within the automotive industry. This role will be responsible for ensuring that content meets legal, regulatory, and industry-specific compliance standards, including accuracy in claims, and adherence to consumer protection laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal acumen paired with a deep understanding of advertising regulations and the nuances of automotive marketing. This role is crucial in ensuring that Huge’s advertising efforts remain innovative, legally compliant, and aligned with industry standards, helping to protect both the agency and its clients from regulatory risks.

Key Responsibilities

Advertising & Marketing Compliance

  • Review and proofread advertising materials across digital, print, and social media to ensure legal accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clarity.
  • Ensure all marketing content aligns with federal and state advertising laws, including FTC guidelines, GDPR, copyright, and trademark laws.
  • Assess advertising claims for substantiation and review disclosures to ensure they meet legal requirements.
  • Verify proper licensing and usage rights for third-party assets (e.g., music, images, video) utilized in campaigns.
  • Collaborate with program delivery and client partnership teams to identify and mitigate legal risks in advertising content.
  • Provide guidance on advertising standards to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.

Incentives, Offers & Promotions Compliance

  • Evaluate promotional campaigns, including incentives, rebates, sweepstakes, and loyalty programs, to ensure they comply with consumer protection laws.
  • Review promotional offers to ensure legally required disclaimers, terms, and conditions are included and clearly presented.
  • Verify that pricing, discounts, and financial incentives comply with federal and state advertising laws, such as truth-in-advertising and fair competition regulations.
  • Work closely with marketing teams to prevent misleading representations or deceptive advertising practices in offers and promotions.
  • Draft and approve contest and sweepstakes rules, ensuring proper disclosures, eligibility criteria, and compliance with state and federal laws.

What We’re Looking For

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent legal experience, particularly in advertising and marketing compliance.
  • Strong proofreading and legal review skills, with expertise in automotive advertising and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with advertising agencies or within the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of advertising law, intellectual property, and consumer protection regulations.
  • Ability to independently manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to interpret and apply legal guidelines to real-world marketing strategies.

The salary range for this position is as listed below. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the actual salary ranges for current and former employees who are either currently filling a similar role or did in the past; the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications; the level of specialization the role requires; budgetary considerations; the market demand for that role and the local market conditions that exist where the employee will be based. For current Huge employees, tenure will also be a consideration.
