About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Legal Team as a Paralegal.
Reporting into a legal counsel, you will be accountable for providing legal support on commercial, procurement and transactional matters across the Ocado group. The right candidate will be someone who has worked in a similar role for a FTSE or similar company and is looking to continue to grow
their career as a Paralegal and gain experience working in an ambitious and fast paced environment like Ocado Group.
Furthermore, the right person will be someone who has a passion as a Paralegal in the exciting world of technology, is collaborative, proactive and can work at pace in order to meet the continued requirements for a busy and growing business.
Please Note: This position is located at our Head Office in Trident Place, Hatfield. We offer a hybrid work environment, requiring at least
two days in the office each week.
In this role, you will be
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business;
- Demonstrates a pragmatic and customer focussed approach to risk management;
- Liaising and managing external counsel effectively from a delivery, risk and cost perspective (as required);
- Contributing to the development of the legal team’s strategy and proactively maintain and raise the profile of the team by developing and taking forward team initiatives/objectives;
- Providing day-to-day advice to the business on the full range of commercial, technology and procurement law related issues;
- Staying abreast of changes to relevant law that may impact the business and support any change related activity;
- Conducting legal research;
- Supporting on a variety of matters relevant to ongoing business projects;
- Developing and providing training and legal updates to the business on various areas of the law and regulatory matters;
- Developing Ocado standard contract templates.
- Occasionally assisting with general commercial litigation matters;
- Assisting other members of the Legal and Business Integrity department on various projects; and
- Supporting the team with administrative tasks, as required.
About you
- You must have previous experience in a Paralegal role;
- You will have a Law degree or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) as well as completion of the Legal Practice Course;
- You will have knowledge of commercial and technology law with a desire to expand on expertise in this area;
- Ideally you will have previous experience with an in-house legal team;
- Experience of working with technology organisations and/or engineering would be valued but not essential.
