Acting under the direction and supervision of Associate Health Care Counsel, provides immigration paralegal functions in support of the immigration section, as well as in support of the general legal needs of the West Virginia United Health System Legal Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s Degree OR High school Diploma AND Four (4) years of high level administrative experience in a law firm or immigration group required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1. Three (3) Years’ experience related to the preparation of immigration petitions.
2. Three (3) Years’ experience with immigration relates laws and regulations.
3. Three (3) Years’ experience drafting documents associated with immigration petitions.

1. Assists the Immigration Attorneys and Immigration Director with all immigration matters while ensuring compliance with WVUHS policies and procedures and any relevant government rules and regulations.
2. Reviews and summarizes supporting documentation for petitions and other filings and identifies potential issues which could complicate immigration status and/or processes.
3. Drafts correspondences and assists as appropriate with the development of immigration filings.
4. Organizes and maintains physicians’ immigration records in compliance with federal regulations.
5. Aids in the implementation of immigration case strategy and monitoring timing requirements.
6. Performs basic legal and regulatory research relative to immigration policy and any developments and changes.
7. Gathers materials from physicians and/or clinical departments in preparation for immigration filings.
8. Communicates effectively with international physicians, clinical departments, Human Resources, and Physician Recruiting regarding immigration processes as necessary.
9. Utilizes Microsoft Office, other computer software, and internet resources as needed in support of the Immigration Unit’s objectives.
10. Prepares legal documents and communicates with internal and external contacts.
11. Assists in populating and maintaining the Legal Department’s document management system.
12. Supports the WVUHS Legal Services Department in all matters and provides support to other counsel and staff within the Department as needed.
