Position Summary:
Supports litigation efforts of the attorneys by preparing documents like discovery, motions, and legal correspondence, as well as organizing and maintaining files. Prepares for trials on lawsuits by organizing exhibits, preparing trial briefs, witness requests, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares legal correspondence, pleadings, and other documents for attorneys
- Manages and oversees claims and litigation assigned to outside counsel
- Reviews case related materials and identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation
- Organizes and maintains discovery files, notice depositions; prepares deposition materials, exhibit summaries, and materials for witnesses
- Helps prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, preparing trial briefs, witness requests, and assisting with other tasks as needed
- Assists in issuing the necessary notifications to all parties
- Organizes large amounts of material (both hard copies and electronic) generated by litigation. Maintains a master set of all documents, keeps updated records and correspondence files, and prepares indices of document production
Education:
- High school degree/GED, or associates in paralegal studies or law, or a demonstrable equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience
- Paralegal certification preferred
