Job Description
Cyient Inc. currently has an opening for a Outside Plant (OSP) Designer, responsible for OSP FTTP fiber work orders in the Fargo, ND area. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, intelligent individuals with previous OSP engineering and field data collection experience. Ideal candidates will have previous experience designing multiple OSP telecom projects simultaneously, including (but not limited to) FTTP (Fiber Distribution), 5G, HiCap and BAU projects. Experienced with client software systems including CADTEL, PeopleSoft and NetCracker is preferred. The ideal OSP Designer will also travel to the field to survey, confirm, and assess current field conditions and meet with the customer as they relate to ongoing OSP designs.
Candidate must have reliable transportation to multiple work locations daily and self-manage their workload and work schedule.
The OSP Engineer/Designer will be paid hourly
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma/equivalent or higher education
- Must have experience in the Telecommunications Outside plant engineering and/or construction industry. Fiber knowledge preferred. Inside path knowledge is also beneficial.
- Should have good understanding of basic computer concepts and technology. Experience with Microsoft Office is required and experience with CADTEL, PeopleSoft and NetCracker is preferred.
- Should have strong understanding of design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried) and manhole and conduit design.
- Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2) is strongly preferred.
- Should be proactive and a self-learner.
- Possess strong professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to read, understand, interpret, input, and analyze data.
- Should have good attitude and ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate daily progress status to all reporting managers & stakeholders.
