Job Summary
The Western Origination Lead – role (“Lead”) is a key driver of the Origination group’s and LRE’s overall success. The Lead is primarily accountable for identifying and executing long-term off-take and other revenue generating opportunities with utility and C&I customers in CAISO and WECC for LRE’s wind, solar, and battery storage development portfolio. The Lead will manage relationships with potential off-takers, develop asset/off-take placement strategies, lead origination opportunity development and maturation, lead deal structuring and negotiation, drive the internal deal valuation and approval process, collect and analyze market and customer data to support decision making, and develop and implement regional origination strategy.
Essential Functions
- Develop customer and markets plan (short term and long-term/strategic) for CAISO and WECC
- Source and maintain customer relationships and off-take opportunities
- Lead customer account planning; develop and execute business strategies to secure power purchase, build-transfer, and other off-take agreements
- Lead negotiation of commercial transactions including off-take agreements
- Manage cross-functional teams to support preparation of solicited and unsolicited offers that arise from formal and informal Request for Proposal (RFP) processes
- Prepare bids for projects in accordance with LRE’s internal underwriting metrics
- Deliver presentations to customers and LRE senior staff and executives
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior managers and associates on execution of deliverables
- Maintain systems for tracking pricing proposals and market clearing prices
- Inform LRE's regional development and M&A activities to align with current and forecast market opportunities and objectives
- Conduct competitive pricing analyses through a deep understanding of market clearing prices and competitor offerings
- Gather real-time market feedback and perform market analysis in coordination with Project Development, Market and Government Affairs, M&A, and Project Finance
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Track record of originating, structuring, valuing, negotiating, and executing PPAs, BTAs, DTAs, and/or project acquisitions and divestitures
- Brings established relationships with off-takers in CAISO and/or WECC
- Knowledge of the full cycle of utility-scale wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid renewable power generation development
- Some experience in management and career development of direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree

- Occasionally lift 20-pound or more.
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of time.
