Operational Support Manager


Who are we looking for?

As an Operational Support Manager, you will oversee daily operations across multiple depots, ensuring seamless fleet and team management efficiency. Leading a team of Operational Specialists, you will manage a diverse fleet of EVs while optimizing staffing and resource allocation to maintain high operational standards.


This role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive approach to developing and implementing new operational processes. You will be key in maintaining service quality by managing relationships with on-site vendors, including mobile washing services and cleaning providers.


Additionally, you will act as a key liaison with the New York office, reporting directly to the Director of Operations and providing regular updates on critical operational developments. Given this role's dynamic nature, scheduling flexibility is essential, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends as needed.


In this role, keeping up with industry best practices and continuously enhancing operational workflows will ensure efficiency, reliability, and scalability. We encourage you to apply if you excel in a fast-paced, high-impact environment and are eager to promote operational excellence.


Responsibilities

Fleet Management

  • Vehicle Distribution and Intake: Manage vehicle allocation and return daily, ensuring adherence to fleet protocols for accurate documentation and vehicle damage assessment.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness: Work alongside the Fleet Coordinator and third-party vendors to maintain high vehicle cleanliness and upkeep standards. Offer informed recommendations on cleaning schedules to ensure vehicles are consistently ready for transit service.​
  • Parking and Charging Coordination: Manage vehicles' strategic parking and charging to ensure preparedness for 8 to 10-hour shifts, optimizing turnaround times and operational efficiency.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Use fleet management software and internal dashboards to track vehicle performance, driver schedules, and vehicle availability to guide strategic decisions.

Operational Leadership

  • Staff Management and Development: Conduct annual performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development. Assess staffing needs and recommend solutions for optimal team performance and resource allocation. Monitor team performance to maintain high driver satisfaction, ensuring timely and effective resolution of concerns.
  • Operational Workflow Optimization: Regularly assess current workflows to pinpoint inefficiencies and apply process enhancements that boost operational efficiency and service quality.​
  • Driver Support: Set an example by delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring that driver inquiries are addressed promptly and issues are resolved efficiently. Engage with drivers to understand their needs, enabling the team to provide tailored support and solutions that enhance their experience.
  • Compliance and Safety Oversight: Collaborating with the Safety Committee, develop and implement policies and procedures that meet industry regulations and foster a safe working environment.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Support budgeting and financial reporting, track operational expenses, and pinpoint cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing service quality.
  • Inventory and Resource Management: Oversee inventory levels of supplies and equipment necessary for daily operations, ensuring availability.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination: Work together with other departments, such as Fleet, Data People, Legal, and Marketing, to ensure smooth operations and effectively tackle any interdepartmental challenges.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years in fleet management or a related field, with a proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational excellence.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities, capable of motivating and inspiring team members.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and systems; comfortable using navigational apps, as well as handling emails and web browsing.
  • Willingness to work outside of traditional hours as needed.
  • Previous experience with rideshare operations or knowledge of electric vehicles is a plus.​


Physical Requirements

  • Able to consistently enter and exit vehicles to help maintain the flow of cars throughout our depots.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds as necessary and standing for long periods
  • The role may include bending, stooping, climbing, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching, and squatting. 


Base compensation ranges from $75-90k, based on experience level. Our benefits package includes:

Location

Los Angeles, CA - This in-person position requires occasional travel to depots and service centers.
