Job Summary
Supports and follows-up Global Design & Construction (GDC) projects working with program sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure on-time completion according to design and site Operations needs.
Provides guidance on ground-up construction, remodeling, renovation, infrastructure upgrades and replacements projects to meet or exceed company expectations.
Coordinates the necessary resources in Operations, use formal processes and tools to manage resources, risks, problems and changes.
Works closely with Data Center Operations and GDC teams to ensure risks are mitigated and design standards are applied.
Supports the implementation of processes and procedures during all phases of new built-in collaboration with GDC team, providing guidance to country operations, addressing needs and requests.
Be the voice of the country operations team in GDC, especially when there are expansion projects in a live environment.
Leverage the sub-regional view/portfolio to help build consistency, anticipate some of the recurring issues, and apply lessons learned
Responsibilities
Program Management

Supports Project Management in the broad roadmap of Construction/Expansion across the GEM South sub-region

Works with numerous stakeholders, understands their needs and builds effective relationships

Applies a range of approaches to planning and gathering information in which to develop/facilitate/lead more complex business cases, plans and schedules

Review of design packages and vendor selection

Uses a variety of communications methods to deliver information relevant to the audience and projects needs

Has an approach to risk management that spans projects level up to strategic risk management where required
-
Solve disputes successfully and independently. Identify GAPs with respect to the design & scope during all phases and escalate it to internal and external stakeholders and address any deviations or issues found that may impact future operations

Collaborates all internal and external project team members including internal Design, Procurement, Operations, and IT/Network support teams to resolve complex matters

Collaborates with multiple external vendors per project comprising General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc

Collaborates with the Data Center Operations and GDC teams to raise the proper CRs in the correct timeline
Project Management Processes & Procedure

Implements the Lessons Learned according to established procedures. Leverage the sub-regional view/portfolio to build consistency, anticipate some of the recurring issues

Acts as an escalation point to local Project Manager involved in GDC projects

Reviews standards, processes and procedures with the purpose of continuous improvement.

Provides recommendations and improvements and ensures that project deliveries complies with the project design, and Country Operations requirements and needs. Communicates project deviations and proposed changes to the GDC team and Country Operations teams

Ensure the Mobilization checklist and the Ops part of the Go-Live checklist are implemented properly and on time

Fosters smooth information flows from any global project owner, not limited to the GDC team, to the GEM South Country Ops teams

Feeds the GEM South Country Ops teams with ad hoc reporting for the project to be up to date, permanently and consistently reported back

Is a natural go to person for anyone aiming at getting a given project overview (over the GEM South territory) at a glance, especially when expansion projects impact a live environment
Qualifications
-
Proven year experience of Construction program / project management, ideally in the data center, alternatively in mission critical, IT, network sectors
-
PM certification(s) is a plus
-
Full mastery of standardized program / project management tools and templates
-
Extensive knowledge of the processes, systems that underpin the Data Center business and more specifically the Equinix way to operate Design and Construction projects; and what are the main challenges and needs for Data Center Operations
