Job summary:
The Operations Director serves as the on-site FORTNA lead of the Service Organization as described in the PSoW and is accountable for the successful delivery and execution of contract obligations therein, including:
- Compliance with contractual obligations stated in the PSoW
- Upholding Customer standards and policies and takes a customer focused approach to the needs of the Customer
- Continuous improvement of the team, processes and tooling to outperform on customer satisfaction
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with customer representatives
- Proactively identify opportunities for operational enhancements
- Understand best practices and how to leverage data to address customer concerns
- Employee utilization
- Cost control
- Subcontract selection and management
- Oversight of FORTNA on-site employees
- Ensuring compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements and standards
- Ensures Health & Safety (HSE) regulatory compliance are maintained
- Upholding FORTNA corporate policies, procedures, standards and values, corporate engineering, documentation and training standards at the site.
The Operations Director develops a (long-term) vision for the maintenance contract, manage the scope of work and has a clear layout of all of the processes. Set up work processes effectively and efficiently and guide employees in their development within the given objectives. Establish a connection between developments at the Customer side, the market, needs of the internal organization and required service concepts in consultation with Management. Sets priorities to achieve results and is able to resolve conflict by identifying creative solutions and compromises to balance the needs of the Customer and FORTNA.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a (long term) strategy in line with the contract, organizational vision and mission to contribute to corporate strategy
- Designs, optimizes and implements all processes related to the focus area and draws up and monitors budgets to realize plans, processes and goals within budget
- Stays informed of developments within the focus area and initiates, coordinates and collaborates on (improvement) proposals to contribute to future business sustainability
- Manages activities and results of the department and related projects, processes and systems and adjusts where necessary to realize department strategy (responsible for the results, revenue, costs, development and performance of people and processes)
- Produces and manages contractual obligations and reports to address future needs and provide insights
- Collaborates and communicates with MT across the organization and with external stakeholders (advises the organization, MT and stakeholders, solicited and unsolicited)
- Convinces and influences stakeholders to accept (new) approaches and direction of activities by managing communications and by mid- to long-term negotiation
- Manages a team of colleagues, coaches and inspires and takes care of internal collaborations to facilitate employees in the execution of their work (build a high-performing team and identify/develop successors for key roles and assess talent needs to support an evolving and dynamic worksite).
Required qualifications:
Education / Work Experience:
- Master’s degree level (preferably in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Project Management, Business or a related Field)
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in a Lifecycle Management or leadership role (e.g. proven experience as a Production Manager)
- Proven track record on building and developing a team in a customer focus environment (experience in setting up a team from scratch)
- Proven track record of delivering results and driving growth
- Familiarity with various engineering procedures and functions.
Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:
- Strong business acumen in operations and financial management skills (e.g. operational budgeting, capital budgeting, resource allocation, human resources)
- Strong analytical abilities and process-oriented mindset
- Proficient in managing stakeholder relationships
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Deep knowledge of and experience with leading multiple teams (e.g. inspiring leadership and winning mentality)
- Team player / coach
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Hands-on approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in Czech and English (German is a plus)
- Flexibility (needs to be on site during evening / night in some cases)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
