The Retail Operations & Billing Analyst is part of the Retail Services team that supports Iberdrola Australia’s growing retail customer portfolio with accurate billing and management of our retail customer operations.
The role works closely with the Client Services and Sales teams internally and is required to successfully manage relationships with our external stakeholders such as network, metering, and billing providers.
This role is available across multiple office locations, including Sydney and Melbourne.
Responsibilities
Retail Billing Operations
- Verification of customer, site and contractual data to ensure accurate delivery of Iberdrola’s retail, wholesale, and other contracts.
- Ensure timely customer onboarding in the billing systems and AEMO market systems (MSATS), accuracy of billing product setup, tariff structures and first bill issuance.
- Process services requests for NMI transfers, roll-ins, meter exchanges, and managing customer remittance advice.
- Review weekly and report on the status of customer accounts and the balance of any bad debts to management.
- Update customer billing items such as MLF/DLF, network tariff, and demand changes.
- Work with the Retail Services team to resolve billing disputes and provide explanations on adjustments and up-to-date account balances.
- Support monthly bill runs for the retail portfolio with the billing provider, ensuring timeliness and accuracy against the agreed SLA. This includes monitoring and process of billing exceptions within the tolerances agreed.
- Post billed invoices into the finance system and assist in monthly retail electricity revenue reconciliation and reporting.
Key Commercial Contract Relationships
- Assist with the reconciliation of billed pass-through charges and finance balances.
- Monitor weekly meter data and work with the billing provider to investigate and resolve inconsistencies and ensure completeness ahead of each bill run.
- Manage timely and accurate payments to network companies and raise dispute resolutions when required.
Retail System Implementation Program
- Responsible for calculation and settlement of broker rebates.
- Participate in the implementation of new systems and updates including testing and analysis of results and developing new processes.
- Participate in requirement gathering and prioritisation for the Retail System Implementation.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
- Assist with annual and quarterly retail customer surrender requirements for both state and national regulatory bodies.
- Assist with timely completion of retail license compliance reporting requirements from state and national regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications
- Degree qualified.
- 3 years + previous energy experience.
- Experiences in using AEMO MSATS systems for retail operations preferred

- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Power BI is beneficial for retail billing operations, though not mandatory, as these tools enhance data management, reporting, and decision-making.
