Covetrus in Limerick is a leading animal health distribution company currently hiring an Operations Assistant to support its dynamic operations team.
The position of Operations Assistant covers all jobs and work in the warehouse relating to the receipt, locating, replenishing, counting, picking, checking, packing and dispatch of goods; the accurate and timely processing of customer sales orders and returns.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all duties within your direct area of responsibility are conducted to the required standards and completed in a timely manner, as directed.
- To liaise with other members of the management team to ensure all operational daily tasks are covered and are completed in a timely manner. Review performance criteria and help to diagnose any operational difficulties, working alongside management to resolve these.
- To lead and guide the TSM’s through motivation, individual development and personal example.
- Manage and lead the team members, to ensure they maintain approved standards for work and attendance. Proactively manage absenteeism following appropriate policies and procedures.
- Conduct TSM appraisals and performance reviews as required.
- Work within the HR guidelines, policies and procedures to manage disciplinary cases. Ensure complicated or serious cases are passed back to the management team.
- To maintain team awareness through regular team briefings. Ensure constructive feedback is recognised with the individual TSM and that ideas and suggestions are passed back up to the management team.
- Maintain team compliance to all Quality requirements.
- Maintain team compliance to all legislative requirements relating to the movement and storage of stock.
- To ensure that all required Induction, Basic operations and Health and Safety training is completed for all TSM’s in a timely manner
- To ensure the highest standard of warehouse housekeeping and maintenance of company assets is achieved.
- To fully comply with all Health and Safety requirements and instruction given.
- Ensure all equipment is used in a safe manner and by authorised personnel only.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as may be required by management from time to time.
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance by enforcing established health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Provide training to warehouse staff on safe handling of products, operation of equipment, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate and report any accidents, near misses, or safety incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
Physical Activities
- This position will be working in a warehouse environment, utilizing typical warehouse equipment and will involve lifting and operating some machinery.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of working within a warehouse storage and distribution environment is an essential requirement.
- Leadership and/or supervisory experience or training.
- The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is fundamental part of the job.
