Operational Risk Manager
Dorking or Basingstoke
Hybrid working approach – expectation of 2 days per week in office (this may change)
What will you bring?
As an Operational Risk Manager, it is essential to have a strong background in Operational Resilience and First Line Risk Management. You will provide expert risk guidance and support to managers across Customer Services, working closely with the second-line Risk Function to embed the Unum Risk Management Framework.
In this role, you will:
· Lead the delivery, development, and embedding of Unum’s Operational Resilience Policy and Framework.
· Support the Customer Services Leadership Team in identifying, assessing, controlling, monitoring, and reporting on risk exposures.
· Develop and communicate the 1st line operational risk framework for Customer Services.
· Develop and deliver comprehensive risk management information (MI) for reporting within Customer Services and at the Unum UK level.
As an Operational Risk Manager, you will manage a team of three analysts across our Basingstoke and Dorking offices, so the ability to travel between locations is essential. We are looking for someone with expertise in operational resilience, particularly within a Financial Services environment. A solid understanding of the regulatory landscape, including the FCA Handbook and frameworks such as Basel III and Solvency II, is also required.
The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert on Operational Resilience with a passion for Operational Risk. They will have excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, and proven people management experience.
Success in this role will rely heavily on your ability to champion operational resilience, ensuring that it is embedded into our organisation’s DNA.
