PURPOSE OF POSITION

The position works with all aspects of the Business Unit including sales, engineering, quality manufacturing, supply chain and distribution to identify business strengths and opportunities for improvement.  The Operational Excellence Manager works with key managers to assist in establishing and setting specific business objectives centered on process improvement and in mentoring or facilitate Kaizen initiatives/project to create financial impact to the business.  This position requires a background in Lean Manufacturing with Six Sigma expertise and strong project management skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - ONGOING TASKS

  • This position requires 50% travel to our facilities in North America.
  • Lead the implementation of the regional Operational Excellence Strategy, System and Approach. 
  • Oversee and drive the execution and effectiveness of the B.U. Operational Excellence System, inclusive of, Problem-Solving A1’s, Kaizen funnel, Kaizen Blitz, and Breakthrough Kaizen, CI Council, and KPI Dashboard to ultimately achieve Hoshin Kanri objectives.
  • Be the subject matter expert in facilitating Hoshin Kanri, VSM, PULL Systems, Theory of Constraints, TPM, POKA-YOKE, and other Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies to enhance Engagement, Business Agility, and Empowerment at all levels within the region.
  • Ensure effectiveness, maturity, and harmonization of Daily Management across facilities (Tiered Communication Process, Gemba, LSW, LPA, and 6S + RTFT Board)
  • Develop, train, and mentor on Prysmian Operational Excellence Certification Training Program, encompassing, non-desk workers, desk workers, and managers.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of certification process and the appropriate sustainability of certifications in each facility.
  • Helps drive the application of the Operational Excellence Assessment (OEA) to evaluate maturity level against internal and enterprise-wide performance standards and partner with regional leadership to develop an improvement roadmap to advance maturity.
  • Serve as a conduit for best practice sharing and standardization within or across different Business Units, and/or from outside of Prysmian.
  • Promote a culture of simplicity, removing waste and automate tasks to augment the ability for faster service to customer throughout value streams.
  • Report on quantitative and qualitative analysis of high-level BU operational indicators and C.I. methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement or promote change.

Required Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business Management.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience leading and managing a team.
  • Experience using PDCA and DMAIC to drive improvements through the application of Lean and/or Six Sigma tools and concepts: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or above.
  • Project management experience with a proven track record of meeting timelines or proactively adjusting to achieve planned goals
  • SharePoint, Power BI, and Statistical tools proficiency are a plus (e.g. JMP or Minitab)
  • Strong analytical background - 7 Quality tools, SPC, Hypothesis Testing, Regression, and Correlation Analysis are a plus.
  • Knowledge of programing languages such as Python, Javascript or C++ are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Automation and 3D printing are a plus.
