Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The FSO (Field Service Organization) is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission critical communications systems at customer locations.
Job Description
The job tasks encompass a wide range of technical responsibilities. The Onsite Technical Supervisor (TS) provides for a dedicated technical resource that will facilitate a seamless integration between Motorola Support Resources and Miami Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR). The TS also assists MDFR with planning for future system needs. The TS, in addition to supervising FSO technicians, will act as a liaison between MDFR and Motorola’s System Support Center to assist in problem resolution. The TS compiles information on system performance, and meets regularly with MDFR to review the operation of the system. The ultimate goal of the TS is to ensure MDFR’s investment in the communication equipment is utilized to the fullest extent possible. The TS is a dedicated technical resource assigned to MDFR and will have an office at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Headquarters reporting there daily.
- Supervise/manage on site Motorola Solutions Technician(s).
- Create monthly reports on the system as agreed upon with the customer
- Create monthly reports on the subscriber repairs as agreed upon with the customer
- Open, track and manage cases for resolution. Providing timely updates to customer.
- Schedule and manage preventative maintenance on system
- Schedule and manage site inspections to be completed in a timely manner and provide customer documentation.
- Management of small projects
- Manage and schedule system upgrades
- Track and manage any FSBs (Field Service Bulletins) and advise the customer when applicable.
- Escalate and track within Motorola Solutions any service impacting issues, engaging resources necessary, coordinating meetings, conference calls, etc. until resolved.
- Single point of contact for customer for all service related issues.
- Monitoring of MOSCAD.
- Monitor the testing of the voting systems including remote site sensitivity verification.
- Assist with third party maintenance escorts to radio sites (UPS, A/C, Tower climber, Drone Inspections, etc.)
- Assist with investigation of weak signal complaints
- Assist with investigation of interference complaints
- Inventory and tracking of all infrastructure equipment (spares, out for repair, FRUs, etc.).
- Console programming
- Maintain inventory of subscriber code plugs.
- Validate programming configuration of subscriber.
- Provide assistance on FirstNet PTT Devices and deployable including but not limited to technical administration.
- Maintain, optimize, test, document and manage highly technical Motorola communications systems.
- Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system while taking a proactive approach to address and mitigate system level alarms and malfunctions.
- Manage system availability through routine system maintenance, performance monitoring and system wide preventative maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and the documentation of results.
- Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.
- Deliver knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Deliver knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Team with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
Preferred Skills:
- Candidates must be familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures.
- Experience as a Communications System Technician with expertise in P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment.
- Highly knowledgeable in wired/wireless communications systems, including local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
- The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding and awareness of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, demonstrating strong computer literacy.
- Possesses exceptional self-management and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with customers, subcontractor partners, and various teams within Motorola Solutions.
- Self-motivated and capable of performing duties independently without direct supervision.
- Skilled in quickly resolving customer problems even in stressful situations.
- Familiarity with configuring and testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical training.
- Provides guidance on integrating new tools and solutions into team operations.
- Proven experience utilizing equipment commonly used for optimizing and testing Motorola communications systems, such as Communications Systems Analyzers, Power Sensors and Watt Meters, TIMS sets, CPS, CSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers (FDRs).
- Skilled in configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products.
- Experience working with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, 911 applications, and networking equipment.
Candidate Requirements:
- The Technical Supervisor (TS) MUST live a commutable distance to the Miami Dade County area.
- Must be willing to travel 25% of the time and live within 50 miles from the coverage area.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
- Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
- Ability to be on-call 24/7/365
- FCC license and industry certifications such as ETA are a plus.
- CET certifications through CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ are highly desirable.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $77,900 - $124,600 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
