Description
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team as a dedicated on-site support engineer at the contract manufacturer's site. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing crucial assistance in the production of photonic line cards, encompassing both new builds and RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorizations). Additionally, as a valued member of our global team, you will contribute to our success by offering comprehensive support in test, product, and process engineering. By collaborating with team members across various locations, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless project execution and driving continuous improvement in our products and processes.
Due to the nature of the role, regular attendance at the office is a requirement for this position. Additionally, regular participation in evening meetings will also be necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support failure analysis, root cause identification and corrective action implementation.
- Aid with test software deployment and test station issues.
- Develop and document fault isolation troubleshooting tools and guides.
- Convey detailed information on failures and yields to design and NPI teams.
- Act as Ciena’s primary technical point of contact for RMA failure confirmation.
- Drive yield and process improvements.
- Participate in the development of the test software/verification solution.
Required Skills
Must Have
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Optical Engineering or Physics
- Knowledge of optical test equipment and measurement methods.
- Optical/electrical debug skills.
- 3+ years working in a production environment as test engineer or equivalent.
- A comprehensive understanding of the fundamental components of photonic line cards, such as WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch), EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier), semiconductor lasers, and others.
- Good understanding of statistics in a production environment (CPk analysis, paretos)

- Having worked in a similar role before.
