We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive NOC Engineer to join our team. The NOC Engineer will be responsible for the monitoring, support, and management of network systems, ensuring optimal performance and uptime. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, troubleshooting, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling technical issues and network incidents effectively.
Responsibilities:
Network Monitoring:
- Monitor the organization's network and systems using specialized NOC tools and platforms.
- Detects and responds to network anomalies, issues, and outages.
- Proactively address and resolve performance bottlenecks or service degradation.
Incident Management:
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve network-related incidents (e.g., connectivity issues, system outages, and packet loss).
- Follow predefined escalation protocols to escalate critical incidents to the appropriate teams.
- Maintain a detailed record of issues, resolutions, and system performance metrics.
Network Optimization:
- Ensure that network devices and systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.
- Regularly conduct network performance assessments and suggest improvements or upgrades.
System Maintenance & Updates:
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks (e.g., software/firmware updates, patch management).
- Assist in the configuration, installation, and setup of network hardware and devices.
Security Monitoring:
- Monitor the network for potential security threats and unauthorized access.
- Collaborate with the security team to implement countermeasures for any detected vulnerabilities.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, incident reports, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate and review performance and incident reports for the NOC Manager.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., network engineers, system administrators) to resolve issues and improve network reliability.
- Participate in shift rotations and on-call support as required.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in network operations, IT support, or NOC-related roles.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
- Experience with basic network troubleshooting (e.g., Ping, Traceroute, TCP/IP).
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, etc.).
- Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
- Knowledge of network security fundamentals and practices.
- Familiarity with virtualized networks and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes clearly.
