The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of highly available network infrastructures, ensuring high levels of performance, security, and availability. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and optimize network performance, maintain and upgrade hardware, and plan for the future needs of our rapidly growing organization. You’ll also support network security initiatives to protect sensitive data and mitigate risks across our platforms.

This position is strictly on-site only (Kansas City, MO).

Responsibilities:

  • Network Design & Implementation:
    • Design, implement, and manage scalable and resilient network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and cloud-based networks, to support the company's goals.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues related to connectivity, performance, and security. Provide Level 2/3 support for network-related incidents and escalations.
  • Security Management:
    • Implement and monitor security protocols and configurations such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems to protect network assets.
  • Network Optimization:
    • Analyze network traffic and performance data to proactively identify areas for improvement. Optimize network configurations and implement changes as needed.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance:
    • Set up and maintain network monitoring tools to ensure uptime and performance. Conduct routine maintenance and firmware upgrades to network devices.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Maintain detailed documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, processes, and incidents. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Data Center, DevOps, Security, and IT teams to support cross-functional projects, including infrastructure upgrades, cloud migration, and application deployments.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 3+ years of experience in network engineering and design, with a focus on large enterprise or data center environments preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and DNS
    • Experience with Brocade, Fortigate, Cisco, Juniper, and other major network hardware and software solutions
    • Hands-on experience with firewall management, VxLAN EVPN, VPLS & VPN technologies, and security monitoring tools
    • Familiarity with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid network architectures
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP), or similar are highly desirable.
