How You Will Contribute:
A Network Engineer– Field Services Engineering works directly with Ciena PM’s/Systems engineering and Planning/Operation and Projects teams in customer organization to ensure the completion of project life cycle within the described SoW, essentially priming the Engineering Documentation and Acceptance testing of the solution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and control the coordination, planning and execution of projects, especially project documentation including LLD, NDD, Link Diagrams and ATP documents.
- Discuss with Systems Engineer and understand the Ciena solution offered and convert the HLD to LLD.
- Support Field Service Technicians and Site Leads in achieving or exceeding the E, F & I Services objectives.
- Provide direct interface to the Customer for Engineering design (LLD, Network design, IDP, DCN design, sync design etc.)
- Make decisions that have impact on project scheduling, planning, and successful completion of deliverables.
- Uses the Statement of Work (SOW) to appropriately leverage decisions on elements of the job that are above and beyond the scope of the project.
- Act as a mentor and share specialised expertise/support with field personnel.
- Act as a team leader on specific projects/activities.
- Analyse scope and complexity of a job.
- Adheres / ensure adherence to applicable quality standards and technical documentation.

The Must Haves:
- Min 8-10 years relevant proven experience
- Hands-on experience engineering, testing, deploying networks on Optical Networking platforms (Ciena, Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, Adva, Infinera, Ribbon Comm.)
- In depth knowledge of Optical technology and architecture (Long haul, Ultra Long haul, Submarine cable systems, CDC, Datacenter interconnect, fixed/flexible grid network, Coherent Optics etc) is must
- Hands-on Experience on NMS/EMS, Microservices, API, OSS
- Migration of equipment’s and sites
- Executing network roll out
- Plan and Implement of L2/L3 DCN
- Hands on experience on Linux/Unix/Solaris systems
- Continuous learning and development of skills in advance optical communication domain.
- Team oriented strong inter-personal skills and ability to understand customers’ needs, expectations and perspective.
- Excellent presentation and soft skills
Assets:
- BS/B-Tech/BE in Electronics and Telecommunication or equivalent, engineering, business or related fields preferred
- Experience of scripting (Python etc.) will be plus
- Understanding of Ethernet and related technologies MPLS-TP/IP, Routing Protocols like OSPF, BGP and ISIS will be plus.
