Overview:The Network Engineer III is responsible for designing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, securing and maintaining our networks and related equipment in a multi-site and geographically disperse environment. This includes local and wide area networks, wireless LANs, switches, routers, load balancers, and all telecom and data circuits. The Network Engineer III is responsible for the architecture and documentation of these networks and for assisting in managing network related projects. The Network Engineer III needs to have the ability to mentor and assist other network and security engineers on the team. The Network Engineer III may also assist with security technologies such as firewalls, VPN appliances, web filters, authentication services, SIEMs and IPSs.

Responsibilities:
- Architects, designs, builds, implements, and documents network systems, both on the local and wide area networks.
- Provides strong technical acumen in all areas of computer network design and troubleshooting, including but not limited to the use of these protocols and technologies: Ethernet, STP, IP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLAN segmentation, VTP, DMVPN, Wireless LANs and MPLS.
- Proactively monitors network activity to identify and resolve potential issues that may affect network performance and functionality.
- Uses experience, skill and available tools to quickly troubleshoot network issues.
- Ensures network devices are properly secured according to security policies and network security best practices.
- Assists with writing and developing network and security policies.
- Performs network device upgrades as necessary to keep equipment current and resolve equipment related issues.
- Assists with performance tuning and network capacity planning initiatives.
- Assists in the design, implementation and maintenance of contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures for use in response to network outages.
- Trains and assists junior network engineers with configuration and troubleshooting.
- Cross-trains and assists with security technologies as necessary.
- Works effectively as a team player with the other members of the IT technical operations staff.
- Communicates effectively with IT and company management about network plans and issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline or experience equivalent to education.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting large multi-site networks.
- Experience with networking products including Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Meraki, SD-Wan, Kemp and F5 load balancers.
- Experience with network design, planning, administration and troubleshooting.
- In depth knowledge of routing protocols, VLAN configuration, and network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with development and application of policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with cloud networking technologies (Azure preferred).
- Experience with vendor relationship management.
- Knowledge of network security best practices and security related devices such as firewalls, VPNs, and IPSs desired.
- Project management experience desired.
- CCNA certification is required. CCNP and additional network or security certifications a plus.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
- Office and refrigerated manufacturing/distribution environments.
- Up to 20% travel
- This is primarily a first shift position but adjustments to shift start/end times may be required depending on future production support schedules.
- Availability for on-call during non-business hours is required.
- After hours and weekend work is required for system troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades.
