WORK ENVIRONMENT:
We are a remote first company with the exception of a few positions being onsite in our designated locations. The positions which are remote you will need to be able to travel a few times a year. You may be required at times to visit client sites or attend meetings at designated locations with your team members.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Network Engineer and Administrator to manage and optimize our on-premises data center and AWS cloud networking infrastructure. This role requires enterprise networking, network security, hybrid cloud networking, and network observability expertise to ensure reliability, performance, and security across all environments. The ideal candidate will also develop and maintain monitoring solutions to proactively detect, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
On-Prem Data Center Networking
- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VLANs, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Optimize redundancy, failover configurations, and high availability across the network.
- Implement and maintain firewall rules, VPNs, and security best practices (Cisco).
- Oversee load balancers, network segmentation, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Support storage networking (NetApp) and virtualization (Nutanix)
- Perform regular firmware upgrades, patches, and vulnerability assessments.
- Perform hardware maintenance as needed.
AWS Cloud Networking
- Design, deploy, and maintain AWS VPCs, subnets, route tables, and security groups.
- Manage Direct Connect, VPN tunnels, and hybrid cloud networking.
- Configure and optimize AWS networking services (ELB, CloudFront, Transit Gateway, Route 53).
- Implement IAM policies, AWS WAF, Shield, and network ACLs for security compliance.
- Use Terraform or CloudFormation for network automation (Infrastructure-as-Code).
- Troubleshoot network latency, bandwidth constraints, and cloud-based performance ssues.
Monitoring & Observability
- Design, Implement, and maintain monitoring and observability tools for real-time visibility.
- Use Zabbix, Nagios, Datadog, Logz.io, Wazuh, Checkly, AWS CloudWatch, oR Prometheus to monitor:
- Network and Server uptime/downtime and availability
- Latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization
- Firewall traffic, VPN activity, and security events
- Cloud and on-prem networking health metrics
- Develop dashboards, alerts, and reports to track network performance trends.
- Automate incident detection and response workflows to minimize downtime.
- Work with Security, DevOps, and IT teams to integrate network observability with overall system monitoring.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- $130,000 - $145,000 Annual Salary
