About This Role
Role & Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate will be responsible for providing military naval operational and training experience to the Training Systems Integration (TSI) naval team as a Technical Advisor and or leader in naval training systems engineering, providing specialized advice during the development of naval training solutions based on extensive naval maintainer experience.
To meet all the TSI needs of naval training programs, the candidate requires considerable experience in the naval environment, with a clear indication of expertise in various naval areas, maritime systems, and/or naval instructor assignments.
The role we are offering you:
Primarily assigned to the River-class Destroyer Cross-Product Team responsible for the Instructional System Design for training solutions for the first ships crews and shore support staffs, the candidate will:

Prepare, plan, and execute naval training system solutions.

Research developments in the maritime industry to remain aware of innovative technologies that could be applied to maintenance training solutions.

Apply knowledge of the RCN to support the Integrated Training Solution Lead in formulating complex surface warship training solutions.

Apply knowledge of the RCN to ensure alignment of training solutions with the Future Naval Training Strategy (FNTS) and CONOPS.

Perform trade studies to select appropriate training solutions from CAE and supplier offerings.

Identify and analyze risks and opportunities, and propose appropriate treatments.

Articulate solution features and benefits into compelling proposals in cooperation with proposal development team

Create and maintain Training & Test Procedures and associated scenarios and lesson plans.

Test training systems to ensure the design, training, and project requirements have been adequately met within budget and schedule constraints.

Work with Naval Business Development Teams to provide input to potential customers (as required) and assist with estimates for Bids and Proposals.

Identify and actively participate in the resolution of training system defects as early as possible during the project execution.
Preference will be given to those with experience with:
-
Complex naval missions and Tactical ship systems (Navigation, communications, naval weapons).

Extensive involvement with planning and conducting maintenance of onboard naval systems as a Combat Systems Engineer or Naval Weapons Engineering Technician gained during a minimum of 12 years of combined naval and/or industry working experience.

Planning and executing naval training, operations, or maintenance at sea, Naval Engineering and Test Establishment, Director General Maritime Engineering Planning and Maintenance, or in a Fleet Maintenance Facility

Knowledge and experience in applying maritime condition-based maintenance.

Strong technical background, prior exposure to naval simulation, experience with training needs analysis, individual operator/maintainer training experience, knowledge of naval systems, and associated naval training/testing/student evaluation are desirable and will be used to assess the most suitable candidate.
Our ideal candidate has:

Extensive experience withing the Royal Canada Navy (RCN) or similar national naval service.

Knowledge of the Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES) or similar System Approach to Training (SAT)

Knowledge of the CAF Military Employment Structure and Framework in its application to Training Development and Execution strategies
-
Knowledge of modern training techniques and technologies (e-learning, simulation, VR/AR, synthetic environments, etc.)

Presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, in both verbal and written format
-
Ability to use Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio, etc.)

Ability to work effectively within a team collaborative environment on-site and remotely
-
Meet the requirements of the Canada Controlled Goods Program (CGP), a Level II (NATO SECRET) Security Clearance and ITAR requirements

Work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage own tasks independently.
