As a Business Development Representative at Coyote, you will focus on expanding Coyote’s customer base by helping customers move their inventory in the most cost-effective way possible. You will create your individual portfolio of accounts through research and prospecting while becoming consultative in providing logistics solutions based on individual customer needs. This consultative style will provide the opportunity to navigate longer sales cycles and develop account-specific growth strategies. Business is initially generated through prospection and cold calling with the opportunity to travel as needed to grow your portfolio. Accounts are maintained and grown through daily communication with customers while upholding Coyote’s No Excuses® commitment to service.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Independently source and develop leads through trusted networks and cold calling to drive sales and meet/exceed load volume goals.
- Negotiate profitable rates with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Build and maintain a solid understanding of industry standards, including rates, carrier networks, load capacities, and equipment types.
- Collaborate with team members to establish terms of sale, negotiate rates, and secure specialized equipment as needed.
- Follow established protocols for all shipments to uphold the integrity of both the shipment and RXO brand.
- Maintain up-to-date records in internal tracking and reporting systems to ensure accuracy in sales and volume metrics.
Experience, Skills & Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work
- 5+ years of professional sales experience in Third-Party Logistics (3PL) or related industry.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and sales drive
- Confident decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
- Effective, professional communication
