About the role
- Seeking a solid and experienced mobile senior Android developer. This position requires 5+ years of experience developing mobile Android apps, proven knowledge of network protocols like HTTP, HTTPS, VPN, Bluetooth, experience publishing apps on Google Play store and Amazon Kindle store. Strong knowledge of the Android platform and ecosystem, VPN and networking technologies is desired. In addition to development, this position will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to other mobile developers of Nielsen Mobile meters and helping shape the strategy for testing and deployment of our meter across different markets. The successful candidate will be required to interact with other teams and work with product managers and business owners.
Key Skills
- Should be a senior person with minimum 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing solutions for mobile Android devices.
- Proven record of mobile app development
- Excellent Java/Kotlin knowledge
- Very good knowledge of Android networking APIs, specifically HTTP/S
- Very good knowledge on memory management for embedded applications
- Good knowledge of Bluetooth and VPN protocols for Android
- Experience with the Xamarin framework is a plus
- Strong record on mobile performance optimization
- Understanding of IPv4/IPv6, UDP/TCP packets and sockets
- Experience with Native and Web communications using JavaScript
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GITLab)
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and ceremonies
- Good understanding of JSON formats and parsers
- Experience integrating 3rd party SDKs (e.g. Firebase)
- Should be able to work across multiple platforms and domains
- Should have the ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Direction and support will be provided by the manager, but the candidate is expected to be a proactive leader and put forth his/her own ideas
- Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills
- Commitment to excellence, accepting responsibility and accountability for results
- Flexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and able adjust to a dynamic, changing technical and business environment
Education
- BSc in Engineering and / or Computer Science or related field
