Description of role:

As the MMS Section Manager you will be responsible for the day to day management of the MMS Section and proactively develop a pipeline of new business to drive profitable growth with the Section, engaging your team with potential customers, colleagues in other business units and the business development function. You will maintain projects to a high level of safety, quality and technical excellence while ensuring time, cost and delivery targets are met.

The MMS section delivers a broad range of projects and offer expert knowledge of metallic materials and coatings behaviour to a range of environments. The section has a dynamic customer base that covers all industrial sectors.

As Section Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • The professional development and support of the Technical Experts and Engineers in MMS
  • The MMS financial performance
  • Allocation of technical resource to best fit project needs,
  • Assist and de-risk the delivery of projects for our customers
  • Start initiatives for big programmes of work with the support of the BUD team in order to meet the Section Sales targets.

To be successful you will need to: 

  • Demonstrate experience of managing multidisciplinary teams and projects;
  • Commit to providing technical excellence with effective communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Strong knowledge of Metallic Materials and Surfacing Technologies across a variety of applications and sectors.
  • Track record for effective Project Management, scoping of work and authoring of technical reports to a high standard;
  • Capability to progress staff training and development activities within your Section including motivation/reputation/succession planning and personal growth opportunities.

This position will require travel on a short-term basis within the UK and overseas according to the demand of your project work and client interactions.

Security requirements: Security Clearance is required (Level of Clearance TBD)
