MAIN REPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
The Country Medical Director, Pfizer Biopharmaceutical Group will serve as the lead Medical colleague for the country, providing medical leadership & responsible for developing and executing the Country Medical Team's vision and strategy in alignment with the country LT.
The Country Medical Director, Pfizer Biopharmaceutical Group is the single point of accountability for medical in the country & works closely cross functionally to support the product portfolio. He/she will report to the LATAM Regional Medical Lead and be part of the Regional Medical LT. He/she will be responsible for managing high performing country Medical organization & will ensure that country medical functions systems, processes & activities are fully aligned with local, regional and EM business priorities, strategies and needs, as well as, in compliance with corporate policies, SOPs & guidelines.
He/she also serves as the key country liaison with country/regional/HQ Commercial, Medical, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Safety, Corporate Affairs and, Legal functions.
The Country Medical Director, Pfizer Biopharmaceutical Group provides medical guidance and input to the regulatory, safety and commercial leadership teams in support of key product maintenance & defense activities. He/she will develop strategic partnerships with key clinical and other stakeholders; developing strategies aligned to customer needs in order to maintain a therapeutic leadership position and drive business needs at the cluster level. The lead will also focus on ensuring excellence with respect to medical quality and compliance as well as professional external relations.
REQUIRED SKILL SET

- Resources Managed (budget and FTEs):
- Will be accountable for the Mexico medical budget as well as head count
- Qualifications (i.e., preferred education, experience, attributes):
- More than 10 years in the medical affairs function in the pharmaceutical industry with broad expertise in medical & experience with regulatory and/or safety risk management issues.
- Understanding of the local health environment & knowledge of the relevant and applicable local and regional Codes of Practice, SOPs, regulations and guidelines
- Complete knowledge of pharmacovigilance & regulatory legislation and how it impacts product portfolio
- Proactive, pragmatic, flexible person with excellent leadership qualities, strategic thinking, communication & presentation skills
- Fluency in English; Fluency in local language.
- Ability to work successfully with cross-functional staff in a team setting
- Analytic and organizational skills in managing, interpreting, and presenting clinical and marketing data, for regional assessment
- Ability to communicate, develop, and manage collaborative relationships with external academic institutions, co-operative groups, and medical professionals
- People management experience is an asset
- MD is a requirement; other advanced clinical degree a plus
- Ability to travel through the country and globally is a requirement.
