Job Summary
Under general direction, responsible for engineering activities associated with assigned piping analysis duties in support of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. A primary focus of this position will be on preparation of ASME Section III, Class 1, 2, and 3 piping system calculations and analyses to support and maintain the design basis of the plant. The station utilizes ME101 as their primary piping analysis tool, but are currently investigating other piping analysis platforms.
In addition to the primary role of piping analysis, this position may be responsible for other diversified design analysis engineering responsibilities based on the organizational needs and the skill sets of the successful candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement piping system calculations and analyses for existing plant systems and new designs.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to resolve piping issues including those associated with flaw analyses and pipe support issues.
- Uses existing procedures and industry codes to investigate, evaluate and produce high quality work products that support station programs and requirements including radiation shielding analyses for plant outages.
- Directly interface with other workgroups (i.e., Site Engineering, Planning, Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding the resolution of issues or to develop improvement initiatives that reduce costs or reduce outage length.
- Builds relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.
- Oversee and provide direction to engineering vendors that provide related piping analysis services (i.e., Class 1 Piping Analysis) which would include performing owner’s acceptance of supporting documentation.
- Routinely review industry operating experience and collaborate with industry peers and forums to effectively apply 'lessons learned' to improve analytical performance.
- Provide engineering support in other diversified areas based on station needs and the skill sets and interest of the successful candidate.
Basic Qualifications
Sr. Engineer
- BS Degree in engineering
- Minimum of five years of related experience
- Individual must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
Principal Engineer
- BS Degree in engineering
- Minimum of ten years of related experience
- Individual must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical engineer preferred
- Previous experience with the ME101 piping code and related software tools.
- Previous commercial nuclear experience with BWR plant design and related piping systems.
- Professional Engineer Registration
