Position Title: MDR Engineer
Location: Manchester, Cheltenham or London (hybrid)
Role Purpose:
A successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day support and operations of several SIEM solutions within our SOC. Roles and responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited to:
- Work closely with SDMs to establish how extra value can be provided to a client as part of their Managed Service.
- Speak with clients to understand any limitations of their current service, provide technical advice/assistance to ensure the Managed Service provides the maximum value.
- Innovate and contribute to technical service improvements across the entire client base.
- Research, develop and test new techniques for contribution and continuous improvement of the Managed Detection Engine (MDE).
- Work with both Consultancy and Engineering teams to develop and improve the technical ability across NCC Groups technical teams.
- Using client feedback to inform and shape the direction of the current Managed Services, whilst operating as a bridge between Pre- and Post-live technical teams.
- Provide feedback and real-world integration of emerging services and solutions with the delivery team
- Contribute towards finding and building new and improved technical solutions to improve the way other teams work
- Push out new solutions on a global customer base
A successful candidate would be able to provide security advice to customers to help them develop their security awareness and infrastructure. Working for a Security Partner requires a surrounding knowledge and experience of security awareness, incidents response, and management.
Summary:
As an MDR Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining SIEM solutions to monitor and respond to security events and incidents. Your role involves configuring and managing SIEM tools and collaborating with other teams to ensure effective threat detection and response. Key behaviours and responsibilities include:
- Configuration: Configure and deploy SIEM tools, onboard data sources, and create correlation rules to detect and respond to security events.
- Monitoring: Monitor SIEM dashboards and alerts to identify potential SIEM issues, investigating and escalating as needed.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot SIEM-related issues, working to resolve technical challenges and optimize performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other security and IT teams to ensure proper integration of SIEM solutions and alignment with security policies.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation of SIEM configurations, processes, and incidents, contributing to the organization's knowledge base.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on SIEM technologies and best practices through self-learning and training opportunities.
