What you will do:
The Master Planner reports to the Production Control Manager and is responsible for maintaining control over the scheduling, recording, and ordering of materials for production. They plan and direct the work of operators within the department, drive safe and quality-minded behaviors throughout the manufacturing process, and ensure that the department runs smoothly. This role operates independently within general procedural patterns with latitude for judgment on methods of implementation. A proven track record of creative problem-solving, follow-through, and effective communication is essential.
How you will do it:
- Assist the Production Control Manager in developing inventory parameters for batteries and battery components.
- Recommend systems to control these inventories within established parameters.
- Establish daily schedules for manufacturing to meet shipping commitments and inventory requirements.
- Order and direct the ordering of materials necessary to meet production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Perform follow-up with vendors to ensure materials are available when required.
- Analyze problems and submit recommendations for changes to the Manager for approval in case of failure to meet schedules.
- Directly supervise and manage union personnel, ensuring all environmental, safety, quality, operations, budget, and production targets are met. Train and evaluate direct reports.
- Ensure good communication between all departments involved in the Production Process, regarding safety, quality, customer demand changes, battery supply issues, and other related information that might affect business operations.
- Collaboratively work to resolve problems and escalate issues for resolution as needed.
- Contribute to positive employee relations through engagement and inclusion.
- Attend, support, and/or lead meetings as applicable, including but not limited to shift handoff meetings, communication meetings, and HPT meetings.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities and all Company policies and requirements.
- Drive daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics to achieve budgetary requirements.
- Understand and support plant KPIs and Shop Floor Management objectives, ensuring similar understanding and support by direct reports.
- Apply continuous improvement skills such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement. Engage direct reports to apply the same skills.
- Foster a work environment built on fair and consistent treatment of all employees.
What we look for:
Required:
• 5+ years of experience in production planning or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- APICS certification or equivalent.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles and processes.
- Proven track record of improving supply chain and production scheduling systems.
- Previous supervisory experience
