OBJECTIVE

The Marketing Director is responsible for developing, executing, and leading strategic marketing initiatives to promote Passion Publishing’s catalog of books, authors, and overall brand identity. This position oversees all marketing initiatives, coordinating with partner imprints and internal creative teams to build impactful campaigns that drive book sales, grow readership, and enhance the publisher’s market presence. At their core this person is a tirelessly creative individual who is gifted at crafting and sharing the narratives behind our books and authors to captivate and grow our readership. The Marketing Director also plays a critical role in building relationships with authors, partners, and media to maximize visibility and engagement across all platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Marketing Leadership
    • In collaboration with HCCP imprints, develop and implement the overall marketing strategy for Passion Publishing’s catalog, including seasonal and title specific campaigns.
    • Monitor industry trends, emerging marketing tools, and competitive positioning to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Strategic Marketing Planning
    • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans with HCCP imprints for each book, aligning with the publisher’s goals, budget, and sales objectives.
    • Craft tailored marketing strategies based on book genre, author platform, and target readership.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on creativity, efficiency, and continuous learning.
    • Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and encourage professional growth within the team.
  • Brand Management
    • Maintain and enhance the publisher's brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and design across all marketing content.
    • Oversee brand-building efforts, including influencer partnerships, collaborations, and sponsorships.
    • Establish and maintain brand guidelines and ensure all public-facing content is aligned with the publisher's voice and values.
  • Campaign Development
    • Coordinate book launch activities with HCCP imprints, such as cover reveals, pre-sale offers, book trailers, release day promotions, and author events.
    • Design multi-channel campaigns, including email marketing, social media, content marketing, paid advertising, and influencer collaborations.
  • Storytelling & Content Creation
    • Develop captivating narratives around each new title and author, aligning with the book’s unique themes and the publishing brand.
    • Create and execute content strategies that enhance the book’s reach and engagement with target audiences.
    • Develop compelling content, such as articles, social media content, and video assets, to promote books and author brands.
  • Author Brand Development
    • Support authors in building and expanding their personal brands across various platforms.
    • Provide coaching on social media, audience engagement, and content development to help authors connect with readers.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; Master’s degree helpful.
    • 7+ years of experience in marketing, with a minimum of 3-years in a leadership role within book publishing or a related industry.
    • Strong knowledge of the publishing industry, including digital marketing, social media, and current market trends.
    • Proven experience managing and leading a marketing team, including setting objectives and evaluating performance.
    • Exceptional communication, organizational, and project management skills.
    • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and software (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM platforms).
