We are looking for a Marketing Counsel to join Roblox’s Legal and Advocacy team. In this role, you will advise and collaborate with various teams within the business on a broad array of marketing, advertising, product, intellectual property, and other related legal matters. Applicants must have experience advising on current legal and regulatory framework and risks in the marketing space, including marketing and promotions law, privacy, contracts, licensing, social media, AI, and other emerging marketing and technology issues. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team, learn about interesting new technologies and business models, and work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in our San Mateo Headquarters.
You Will:
- Review and provide advice on marketing materials and content (e.g., marketing communications and creative, marketing campaigns, press releases, marketing/client presentations, and marketing surveys and studies) to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Help draft and negotiate marketing-related agreements and waivers/releases.
- Review and assist with drafting terms and conditions and official rules for contests, sweepstakes, and promotions.
- Build a streamlined system and develop policies for legal review of marketing copy and creative assets and drive other processes, including creating, managing, and updating templates.
- Remain up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and evolving industry standards to provide sound legal advice.
- Tackle any additional incoming questions to the legal team that you are interested in!
You Have:
- 3-5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a consumer-facing technology company.
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- A strong working knowledge of marketing legal issues, including those related to trademark and copyright protection, publicity rights, data and privacy issues, false advertising, consumer protection, and other relevant marketing and advertising laws and regulations.
- Previous experience counseling a marketing team in the tech industry.
- A track record of educating internal stakeholders, translating complex concepts, and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong business-oriented judgment and the ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical, and legally acceptable, taking into account the needs and objectives of the business.
- Ability to work well with a small but growing team and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously. Must be able to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting.
- Sense of humor and high level of professionalism.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

$207,610—$247,260 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
