Great American Professional Risk Insurance Services (GAPRIS) provides specialized umbrella and excess liability coverages for medium ​to large-size companies in need of high coverage limits for casualty exposures by utilizing the varied capabilities within the Great American Insurance Group. We are looking for a Marketing and Underwriting Specialist to work a hybrid schedule from our Charlotte, NC office. The person in this role will be responsible for developing, growing, and maintaining a profitable book of excess casualty and umbrella business.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes financial and risk data of proposed insureds to identify hazards and exposures.
  • Identify growth opportunities with key distribution partners.
  • Determines appropriate recommendations subject to our management and underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensures that effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers are developed and maintained to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Ensures the delivery, follow-up, and servicing requirements of all quotes on new and renewal accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Prior underwriting experience in casualty, umbrella or excess lines is required.
  • Must have experience establishing and building strong relationships with agents and brokers.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Position requires regular travel including overnight travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
