What we’re looking for:

Nexamp is seeking to hire a Market Strategy Analyst. You will conduct research and analysis on revenue and cost streams across a variety of project types impacting Nexamp’s distributed generation and utility-scale assets, with a specialized focus on revenues, risks, and opportunities associated with wholesale energy and capacity markets. You will map the applicability of those compensation mechanisms onto solar, energy storage, and other development opportunities across Nexamp’s geographic footprint.

You will be hybrid out of Boston or New York City. You will report to the Manager, Energy Markets.

What you’ll do:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a wholesale electricity markets subject matter expert within the organization. Collaborate with the Policy and Asset Management teams to stay current on the evolution of market rules, energy regulations, and supply-demand dynamics across relevant markets.
  • Strategic Insights: Deliver actionable insights on wholesale energy and capacity price dynamics and forecasts, ongoing and anticipated market reforms (for example, capacity accreditation reforms), and related strategies to optimize market participation across diverse regulatory environments.
  • Research & Analysis: Provide high-quality technical, qualitative, and quantitative research to inform actual market participation as well as project- and portfolio-level modeling of expected market participation. Quantify and articulate the relative risks of different approaches to market participation to inform Nexamp’s portfolio strategy and long-term investment outlook.
  • Data Management: Maintain and improve internal tools and databases that serve as the baseline for revenue forecasts. Leverage internal tools and databases to identify opportunities to improve and optimize project and portfolio revenue outcomes.
  • Data Presentation: Collect, analyze, and present data to communicate complex regulatory and market concepts clearly through conversations and presentations with project partners, investors, and internal decision-makers.
  • Business Intelligence. Provide bespoke strategy services for internal stakeholders, including opportunity growth forecasting, evaluation of market positioning, competitive intelligence tracking, disruptive trend evaluations, and more.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Nuanced understanding of electricity markets, utility rate structures, and solar project finance from 2-4 years of industry experience. Familiarity with energy sector modeling software such as PLEXOS or Aurora is preferred.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills, comfort with large datasets, and advanced Excel modeling experience. Comfort with data analysis software such as Python or R is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights in accessible ways. Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, JupyteR, or other data visualization tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with database architecture and best practices.
  • Structured and analytical problem-solver with an ability to clearly articulate best paths forward. Eager to learn key strategic levers in the industry.
  • Ability to lead initiatives that require alignment across diverse teams and departments, including Policy, Capital Markets, and Business Development.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.

If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please submit an application.  We encourage people from minority or marginalized groups to apply.
