We are seeking a skilled IT Engineering Lead with experience in digital manufacturing to oversee the design, development, and deployment of multiple digital initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure platform, API architecture, Operational Technology (OT) systems, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to bridge the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) within our digital manufacturing initiatives.
As the IT Engineering Lead, you will drive the end-to-end development of applications that support our manufacturing processes and lead a team of developers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions. This role requires a proactive problem-solver with deep technical expertise in cloud computing, manufacturing applications, and integration of enterprise systems.
Key Accountabilities
- Project Leadership
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of digital initiatives, primarily built on the Azure platform.
- Work closely with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Oversee technical teams, providing guidance and setting development standards and best practices for projects.
- Technical Strategy & Architecture
- Design and implement a scalable and secure API architecture that supports data flows between IT and OT systems.
- Develop strategies for integrating OT systems (e.g. OSI PI) with Azure cloud services, ensuring data reliability and security.
- Establish architecture standards and best practices for building resilient and scalable applications on Azure.
- Development & Integration
- Lead the development team in coding, testing, and deploying mobile and web applications, leveraging Azure services such as Azure Functions, API Management, App Services, and Azure IoT Hub.
- Develop, manage, and optimize API integrations to support real-time data transfer between OT and enterprise applications.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to establish CI/CD pipelines and ensure efficient deployment practices.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary technical liaison between IT and OT teams, ensuring smooth communication and coordination on digital manufacturing projects.
- Work with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Drive regular project updates, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives with stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure the technical quality and reliability of all applications, implementing testing standards and QA processes.
- Maintain compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies, especially in relation to OT data and cloud storage.
- Develop and enforce documentation standards for all application designs, APIs, and integrations.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies in digital manufacturing, cloud computing, and OT systems, bringing new ideas to enhance existing solutions.
- Proactively identify and address opportunities for system optimization, performance tuning, and cost reduction.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 12+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on digital manufacturing and a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role.
- Proven experience building applications on the Azure platform, with a strong understanding of Azure's native services.
- Experience with API design and architecture, specifically in integrating IT and OT systems.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms, especially Azure services such as Azure Functions, App Services, Azure API Management, and Azure IoT solutions.
- Solid understanding of OT systems (e.g., SCADA, PLCs) and protocols for connecting OT to cloud and IT systems.
- Hands-on experience in API development and integration, including RESTful APIs, API gateways, and security best practices.
- Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring in Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with IIoT, data streaming, and edge computing technologies is a plus.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements.
