The Role:
As the Manager for the Occupant Protection Software team in Body Controls domain, you are responsible for leading a team of developers & engineers to design, develop, test and implement embedded software. You will work cross-functionally with product, systems, program & supplier teams to ensure all pieces come together to successfully release quality products on time to support our revenue generating truck portfolio and pave the way for our all-electric future. You will be responsible for delivering software to program timelines coordinating with suppliers, GM Inhouse software teams. You will be handling multiple release lines (existing VIP & upcoming SDV architecture) for the Occupant Protection product. You will be responsible for handling defects, product improvements, plant, program support when needed, leading cross functional teams to effective resolution of issues.
In this people leader role, as well as having responsibilities for the Occupant Protection area of technology, you will develop and lead strategic action plans to support business goals for our inclusive future as we reinvent ourselves from auto manufacturer to a tech company. You will be using the agile concepts to empower your team to innovate and grow technology. You will be leading the team in adapting new technologies to the product, understand new and upcoming regulatory requirements and drive cross functional team to meet safety goals.
Your technical leadership will be at the strategic direction level with responsibilities for execution & drive innovation. You will help develop and lead strategic action plans to support business goals for our inclusive future with industry-leading Body controls performance that elevate our customer's driving experience.
What You'll do:
- Enable self-organizing, self-managing teams to deliver product on-time with quality executions in an agile environment
- Help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement
- Implement and support agile principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow

- Lead and manage supplier & GM strategic partner software deliverables to program timelines
- Lead timely resolution of product quality issues (e.g. PRTSs) to ensure launch quality
- Implement process improvement for product quality enhancement

- Execute resource planning for required activities

Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Mathematics.
- Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development.
- Demonstrated technical background in chassis controls and/or vehicle dynamics
- Working knowledge of embedded controls development & related tool set - (e.g. AUTOSAR software, developing & debugging physics-based C code, Jira, GIT Ecosystem, etc.)
- Demonstrated results in successful project execution
- Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction
- Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity while driving timely decision making
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
- Master of Science in Electrical, Computer, Electronics, Mechatronics, Systems or Software Engineering with emphasis in Controls or Robotics
- Prior work experience in Body Controls domain
- Experience in embedded controls development software and tool sets - (e.g. C/C++, Python, Jira, Git ecosystem, MatLab/Simulink, ETAS INCA)
- Leadership experience developing or utilizing industry standards & software architecture (e.g. AUTOSAR) and methodologies (e.g. CICD)
- Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems
- Leadership of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware in an agile environment
- Demonstrated ability to: achieve results through effective teamwork, lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion, and manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results
Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
