Eversource is looking for a Manager, Strategic Project Development located in Westwood, MA

We have an exciting opportunity to join Strategic Project Development and drive clean energy integration in MA. The Strategic Project Development Manager is a critical strategic leadership role for advancing the strategic Transmission development of the Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) by implementing cross-functional leadership throughout the Company and executing on the Capital Plan while adhering to core business synergies. This leadership role will be responsible for developing and advancing the Transmission and Distribution components of Eversource’s ESMP.

A key point of success will include building relationships and work collaboratively with all internal departments within the Company including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Engagement, Regulatory, Legal and Project Management. This leader will develop internal analytics, external communications and internal stakeholder relationship building in collaboration with other teams to support the Company’s role as the leading provider of Transmission in MA through the ESMP.

Essential Functions 

  • Manage the development and documentation of Company policies related to development and execution of strategic transmission projects addressing items such a feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, construction, etc.

  • Manages and oversees the early development function of Projects identified in the ESMP.

  • Maintains familiarity with current and upcoming policies and programs that could facilitate Transmission Development in MA

  • Manages a Team and leads discussions to advance ESMP through Transmission Projects

  • Works with the Director to develop metrics by which to evaluate the success of transmission projects and continue to track the progress.

  • Facilitates discussions with key stakeholders to assure alignment and key information exchange; focuses on collaboration internally and externally

  • Manages a Team that develops project schedules and budgets in the conceptual phase prior to execution

  • Interacts regularly with Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and Energy Efficiency to develop concept plan

  • Represents Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, associations, or other efforts consistent with their Projects

  • Manages and reviews the development of business case to pursue concepts or unique strategies

  • Coordinates with various business units to identify and advance projects and Company initiatives

  • Represents Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings and any special meetings that may occur

  • Assists as needed for any stakeholder outreach meetings and discussions

  • Oversees the engagement with internal stakeholders to solicit input and involvement as needed and to provide education on Strategic Project Development

  • Ensures that all strategic solutions are vetted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Industry knowledge required

  • Ability to develop and present reports within the organization.

  • Strong computer and analytical skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.

  • Project management and people management experience required

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externally

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Ability to effectively lead, manage and develop a diverse workforce

  • Extensive resourcefulness to anticipate, define and direct solutions to complex project development issues

  • Ability and willingness to initiate and manage change as needed

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, environmental), business discipline, energy sector, related degree, or equivalent experience.

  • Masters, law, or other related advanced degree desirable

Experience        

  • 10+ years related experience, including successful project development

  • Experience developing competitive infrastructure projects and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s license is required

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Our hybrid working schedule is first 90 days are in the office and then hybrid.

Compensation and Benefits

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $153,830.00 to $170,920.00 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
