Department OverviewThe Evidence and Devices Engineering team is responsible for Motorola Solutions’ body cameras, vehicle cameras and evidence management software leveraged in public safety and enterprise applications worldwide.
We are a thriving and growing company in search of a Software Engineering Manager to join our evidence management team in Edinburgh, Scotland. This full-time position offers the opportunity to play a significant role in the management and growth of our software engineering projects.
Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our growing team. In this hybrid role you will lead a talented group of engineers to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software products, while fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and ensure alignment on deliverables.

  • Drive technical decisions and best practices, ensuring that the team follows industry standards for coding, testing, and documentation.

  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring the team meets deadlines and maintains high-quality standards.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and promoting knowledge sharing.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development for team members.

  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks or challenges hindering the team.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams.

  • Professional experience in software development.

  • Proven ability to oversee the design and development of scalable, reliable software applications.

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, including agile methodologies.

  • Experience with cloud platforms.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A track record of collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Proven experience of mentoring and coaching engineering talent.
