Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Payroll Manager. The Payroll Manager will contribute to the shared processing of the full payroll cycle for SMPA as well as payroll related accounting processing. This role is vital in ensuring payroll is processed timely and accurately. This role reports into Senior Director of Payroll Operations and will work closely with other members of Payroll team, Accounting, HR, Corporate Tax and other groups across the company.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including salaries, bonuses, deductions and benefits.
- Maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Handle payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure accuracy.
- Administer the funding for retirement savings & HSA.
- Manage payroll systems and software, troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Work closely with payroll vendor to ensure proper payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with IRS and State, and Local tax agencies.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, deductions, etc.
- Handle time and attendance system and troubleshooting of timesheets
- Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, HR or related field required.
- 6-10 Years multi-state payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
- Understanding of appropriate tax jurisdiction based on work and resident state.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Utilize advanced Excel Functions (XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Complex Formulas) to streamline payroll reporting, reconciliation and data management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Experience with ADP payroll platforms required (preferably ADP Vantage).
- Experience with Workday required
The base salary range for this role is $102,600 to $128,200. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
