Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Network Planning to join our rapidly growing team! As the Manager, Network Planning, you will oversee a team of planning engineers responsible for monitoring growth, new services, equipment lifecycle management, and network capacity across the network including central office, outside plant and transport. Specifically, this position will oversee a team of planning engineers responsible for providing network capital costs for fiber to the tower, and Enterprise Ethernet and Wave requests. The primary focus is on OSP fiber and access components, but also will include core connectivity and transport. This is a critical function at Brightspeed as it identifies the capital impact for potential sales opportunities. This team is responsible for presales costing, post contract costing confirmation, and creating projects for engineers to implement the capital required for the sold services.

As Manager, Network Planning your responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing a diverse workforce of 9-12 planning engineers
  • Performing management of team including regular feedback, annual appraisals, and salary administration
  • Balancing multiple priorities and initiating innovative solutions to business problems
  • Responsible for projects to be initiated in a timely manner to meet service requirements or overall project timeline
  • Managing direct and indirect employees to drive solutions to meet objective targets
  • Collaborating and team building utilizing effective communication skills
  • Understanding and explaining complex technical information
  • Providing technical leadership and supporting team members with day-to-day problem resolution
  • Communicating program objectives, timelines and measures which define success
  • A focus on continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE: 

  • Ability to work in appropriate Microsoft Office applications (MS WORD, PowerPoint, EXCEL, TEAMS) and other production and reporting systems
  • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
  • Innovative, analytical thinker and decision maker
  • Strong problem solving and execution skills in driving transformation and change
  • Capital approval and budget management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

BONUS POINTS FOR: 

  • 3 years or more experience in telecommunications planning or engineering in any or all the following areas: Core, Edge (Access), Outside Plant
  • Experience executing multiple, simultaneous network projects
  • Experience executing multiple, simultaneous business transformation and process changes
  • Bachelor’s degree
