The Position
The Manager of Master Data will work within the Master Data Team and will have responsibility for Master Data implementation, quality initiatives, and reporting as well as ensuring Master data integrity and standards are applied to all related processes and system. The responsibilities include leading data creation, consolidation, quality checks, and reporting aspects with a focus in the Customer Data Management (CDM) system as well as other MDM systems within the team (Product, Patient). This role will function as liaison with stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Information Technology, Analytics Governance, Compliance, Field Systems and Field Force teams, as well as other NNI stakeholders to identify and drive business and reporting initiatives to modify existing processes to ensure quality data for proper use by downstream programs/users.. Responsibilities include the review of all business rules for records management within the CDM system, while preparing and managing changes within other domains (Patient, Product) where applicable.
Relationships
This role reports to the Director of Data Services & Management within the Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics department. Primary internal relationships are within FIES, IT, Compliance, Field Systems, and other stakeholders. External relationships will include vendors as needed to manage ad hoc projects, system implementation, enhancements, and education on Master Data standards etc.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate across boundaries to ensure data quality requirements are being identified across multiple stakeholders to drive accuracy in data delivery for all consuming systems of Master Data with a primary focus in Customer Data (Healthcare Professionals, Healthcare Organizations, Managed Care Organizations). Additional responsibilities could include Patient & Product master data domains.
- Develops, documents, and communicates data standards, metrics and business rules/policies and ensures documentation is kept up-to-date on all master data initiatives
- Employs problem solving skills to efficiently resolve data structure, consolidation, and quality issues and participate in managing ad hoc projects as necessary
- Evaluate and recommend Data Governance tools (e.g., workflow and collaboration tools):
- Facilitates the development and enhancement of Data Governance directives resulting from market and/or regulatory changes for Master Data Domain
- Responsible for the addition, expiration, enhancement of Customer related data for downstream reporting needs
- Responsible for QC of ongoing integrations within CDM, ensuring high quality data both from the source & provided to downstream.
- Presents current practices, makes recommendations and shares point of view w/relevant stakeholders regarding the Master Data Domain
- In collaboration with IT and stakeholders, drives implementation of new processes/business rules
- Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk Master Data policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way of Management
- Manages all quality initiatives that come out of the Data Governance Program
- Responsible for definition, control, quality, integrity and policy compliance regarding the Master Data Domain
- Works closely with Sr. Manager - Data Management Operations to support, communicate and build transition plans for new Customer Master offerings. Collaborates to ensure downstream teams are informed of changes, and helps ensure those changes are available to users.
- Work with internal and external business partners to identify data issues and address them in order of urgency and priority
- Drive innovation through enhancements in the organization, processes, and use of systems and data and implement data quality initiatives
- Responsible for gathering, consolidating and tracking all Prescriber, Product, Specialty Pharmacy, Plan, Payer and Hospital data and their hierarchical relationships and affiliations for all business areas
- Validate and ensure that data being reported and analyzed is of high quality before being delivered to various internal teams including Sales, Compliance, Marketing, Forecasting and Analytics
- Effectively and efficiently work within an enterprise environment containing millions of records in the CDM system.
- Investigation of these large databases using standard tools to filter data and provide for downstream consumers on an ad hoc basis
- Situational analysis, documentation, and audit of current processes, data flows and systems
- Promote and expand use of Customer Master data across the organization while communicating the value proposition.
- Develop end-user ease of use program for these processes
- Identify gaps in data and processes and identify areas for further improvement
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for data retrieval, and reporting for downstream consumption
- Ability to use business judgment to guide analysis, draw implications from the data and synthesize into succinct and clear communications - understanding when to share widespread vs locally or individually
- Solid grasp of business issues and objectives provided by key stakeholders and the implications of different solutions given the current environment and forward looking business plans. Including implementation of new systems and understanding the business objective
- Solid communication skills (written and verbal) and teamwork capability
- Able to work with partners from other companies (alliances and 3rd-party vendors) and within a culturally diverse environment
- Able to represent the Master Data Management team when attending project meetings and when engaging with all key stakeholders
- Responsible for working with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to understand issues, implement solutions, and influence others to implement solutions
- Able to work in an ambiguous environment with complex undocumented business logic and data flows
- Able to quickly, proactively and independently acquire knowledge via online documents and personal interactions to understand the data and the processes and code that alter the data throughout the process
- Able to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities and a mix of quick hit, short, medium and long-term projects of varying priorities
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
- A Bachlelor's degree required; advanced dergee preferred
- A minimum of 5 years-experience in pharmaceutical industry specific to data analytics, and information management concepts i.e., data modelling, data quality, pattern recognition, etc.
- Detailed knowledge of IQVIA deliverables (HCPS, HCOS, OneKey, Managed Care Work Book and DDD) and how they are leveraged to LoB
- Expert with previous experience in MDM tool like Informatica or similar product; experience with previous system launches preferred
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
- Ability to work with all levels within the organization
- Customer focused
- Experience as a project leader with solid problem-solving capability
- Presentation skills
- Proficiency in analytics tools/systems, such as Excel, Access, SQL, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI
- Strong analytic capability, project management and excellent communication skills
