This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.

The Manager of Land Acquisition is responsible for land acquisition campaigns to facilitate the development of energy storage, solar, and solar-plus-storage projects. This role focuses on driving the execution of land acquisition efforts, working closely with the origination teams, and third-party land agents to ensure the successful identification, negotiation, and acquisition of land. The Manager will be expected to oversee multiple campaigns simultaneously, ensure adherence to timelines, KPIs, and budgets, and report on progress.

What You’ll Do

Campaign Execution

  • Executing land acquisition campaigns, including conducting research and preparing materials, while observing budgets and KPIs
  • Leverage GIS tools to inform campaign scoping, target site development and selection, due diligence, and identification of environmental constraints mapping.
  • Lead or oversee land campaign mapping efforts and analysis to educate site selection and required desktop review processes.
  • Conduct landowner outreach and engage landowners through various methods including phone calls, texts, and visits.
  • Secure favorable land agreements, following company standards and templates with support from legal.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop marketing materials and ensure alignment with campaign strategies.


Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as a point of contact for third-party land agents, providing oversight and support, including onboarding and progress tracking.
  • Address questions and provide information to landowners regarding project plans and benefits.
  • Coordinate due diligence process, ensuring that land suitability assessments (zoning, environmental, legal, etc.) are completed for each site.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of land acquisition activities, including landowner communications, agreements, and due diligence materials, including by using CRM tools like HubSpot in accordance with team SOPs
  • Provide regular updates on campaign progress and report as needed, including to senior leadership.
  • Update CRM tools to ensure all landowner interactions and acquisition activities are properly recorded.


Collaboration and Process Improvement

  • Work closely with internal teams, including origination, pre-construction, legal and finance, to ensure that acquired land meets project requirements and is suitable for development.
  • Support smooth handover of acquired land to the origination and pre-construction teams, and support ongoing communications with landowner through NTP as necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings to provide updates and receive direction on ongoing campaigns.


Risk Mitigation

  • Identify potential risks in land acquisition campaigns, such as gaps in documentation or compliance issues, and escalate them to senior staff.
  • Assist in developing solutions for minor campaign inefficiencies as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in land acquisition, real estate, or project coordination roles.
  • Basic understanding of land-use regulations, permitting processes, and real estate law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey the progress of land acquisition campaigns to internal stakeholders, as well as to manage and align expectations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A meticulous approach to overseeing mapping efforts, contract negotiations, land agreements, and due diligence processes.
  • Proficiency with GIS tools and the ability to conduct site evaluations with SME support.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in CRM tools like HubSpot.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy development processes or related industries.
  • Basic experience reviewing real estate documents such as deeds, titles, and abstracts.

Base Salary Range: $105,000- $120,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
