Major Responsibilities:

  • Strategically defines the direction of current and future revenue cycle instructional design (e-learning, classroom, and other delivery modes) in order to advance the objectives of Advocate Aurora Health.
  • Engages key partners to conduct needs analyses and define requirements for revenue cycle learning programs and tools across the enterprise. Oversees core revenue cycle education to ensure program quality and audience value.
  • Partners closely with the Revenue Cycle Training leaders to ensure that learning programs and tools transfer fluidly from the Instructional Designers to the trainers and that feedback is bi-directional.
  • Partners closely with the Training leaders and the leader of Revenue Cycle Workflow Optimization to ensure Electronic Medical Record (EMR) changes and updates are incorporated into the existing curriculum timely; that the EMR training environment is built optimally; and that new education is created timely.
  • Ensures that revenue cycle instructional design is in alignment with adult education best practices; analyzes current trends, industry direction, and adult learning theory to help set strategy for areas of responsibility.
  • Leads prioritization of instructional design projects, and ensures accountability for on-time delivery of all end products to support Advocate Aurora Revenue Cycle’s blended learning approach (online and classroom-based offerings).
  • Keeps pace with both business and functional knowledge of healthcare and the revenue cycle, as well as internal and external requirements related to competency assessment and education.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.


Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in instructional design, adult education and training program presentation. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in the management of staff, budgets, and training functions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven skills in working effectively with multiple departments and matrix organizational structures.
  • Strong ability to influence and develop others in order to move toward common goals and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including project management, negotiation, delegation, prioritization, team building, time management, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with moderate guidance or direction. Effective critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Expertise in developing and executing education programs that ensure translation of education into action; promote learner involvement; and demonstrate innovative coaching skills when managing education and development issues.
  • Ability to guide individuals and groups toward desired outcomes, setting high performance standards and delivering high quality services.
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of team members, including managing through difficult situations, valuing differences, and leveraging strengths.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position may require travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Must be able to sit the majority of the workday.
  • Exposed to a normal office or home office environment.
