Job Description
The role reports directly to the ‘Head of HR Operations, Asia’ focusing on the direction and execution of Operational Employee Services for payroll. Leading a team of (Senior) HR Specialists to execute payroll tasks across the Company’s markets in Asia.
The successful candidate will become part of a diverse and fun team of HR Professionals working across established business processes, up-to-date HR and Finance Technology, team engagement rituals and will be having access to work with the latest technology that we have invested-in i.e. Workday, ServiceNow, ProSoft as well as other outstanding external service providers.
Key Objectives
- Co-lead and coordinate payroll processes across four countries, with potential to expand to six across Asia.
- Ensure smooth and organized payroll operations by preparing reports and conducting due diligence, while supporting our company’s financial goals.
- Lead the payroll cycle preparation, variance reporting, and execution, collaborating with authorized approvers to keep things running seamlessly.
- Take charge of payroll audits and checks to guarantee adherence with all relevant legislation and awards, including tax regulations and pensions.
- Be responsible for the review, payment, and reconciliation of tax and statutory deductions (like pensions and development funds) alongside our dedicated HR Specialists and Finance team.
- Maintain accurate staff payroll and tax records, ensuring everything is up to date and in line with our standards.
- Provide insightful payroll forecasts to our Finance team, helping them stay ahead of the curve.
- Collaborate with our People Technology and Insights team to advise on payroll systems and suggest innovative changes or upgrades when needed.
- Act as a trusted advisor on all payroll matters, guiding our business through successful preparation, execution, and reporting of payroll activities.
- Work alongside a diverse, fun-loving group of teammates eager to learn and share their knowledge. You’ll also collaborate closely with leadership to mentor and promote junior colleagues and HR counterparts in our operating countries.
- Implement payroll strategy and operations with passion and precision.
- Lead and support projects sought at improving payroll operational efficiencies, making our processes smarter and more effective.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive Experience: 10+ years in Payroll Services or HR Operations, with expertise in multi-country payroll processing.
- Leadership: Demonstrable ability to collaborate with and lead Payroll and HR Specialists effectively.
- Employee Focus: Strong employee services mentality, thriving in sophisticated matrix driven agile organizations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of payroll regulations, statutory requirements, and solid understanding of best-in-class payroll / HRIS system and process practices
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in MS Office and experienced with HR cloud systems (Workday, SAP, etc.).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills, with tact in handling critical matters.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; HR-related certifications are a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Data Privacy: Commitment to protecting data privacy and maintaining confidentiality.
- Meticulous: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and data quality.
