Education:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting required

CPA license strongly preferred
Work Experiences:

5+ years of relevant experience - Big 4 Accounting firm experience strongly preferred

Experience with public company/SEC reporting required

Experience performing technical accounting research required

Proven track record of managing high-performing teams

Proven track record of proposing and driving process improvements

Retail industry experience a plus

Oracle and Workiva experience a plus

Responsibilities:
-
Responsible for managing and participating in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including Form 10-K and 10-Q, consistent with US GAAP
-
Support the preparation and review of other externally and internally reported financial information including proxy statements, investor communications, 401k audit and ABL audit financial statements, Audit Committee materials, etc.

Participate in month-end and quarter-end accounting close reporting processes, including preparation of cash flow statements, calculation of Adjusted EBITDA/EBIT, EPS calculations, compliance certifications, and review of the monthly income statement and balance sheet closing packages

Prepare and review supporting workpapers and tie-outs for financial statement disclosures with impeccable attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial reporting

Research and interpret new and existing GAAP accounting standards and SEC disclosure requirements and assess their impact on the company’s financial statements
-
Monitor accounting literature and SEC reporting guidance and proactively stay abreast of changes that may impact the company
-
Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards, including drafting technical memos and coordinating with cross-functional teams
-
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures memos
-
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to support the review and audit of financial statements and related disclosures
-
Perform and ensure compliance of key financial reporting SOX controls
-
Leverage technology to analyze, recommend, and implement financial reporting process improvements
-
Manage, coach, and provide guidance to financial reporting team members
-
Serve as a key business partner to various cross-functional groups including investor relations, accounting, tax, treasury, legal, FP&A, internal audit, and others to ensure timely support requests and accurate reporting

Maintain the SEC reporting tool (Workiva), and ensure appropriate extensible business reporting language (XBRL) tags throughout the Form 10-K and 10-Q

Special projects and participation in various initiatives, including new system implementation, updates or upgrades and implementing process improvements across various functions

Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules
