WHO WE ARE
The Manager, Field Application Scientist is a “player/coach” dynamic with an ~70/30 percent balance between supporting your territory as a Field Application Scientist and Managing the European FAS team, respectively. Parse offers the most scalable and flexible single cell sequencing solution on the market and researchers are looking for guidance on how to best use our kits to accelerate their biological discovery. In this position, you will act as the scientific liaison between the company and our customers. You will be responsible for working with various research groups to make sure they are educated on how our kits work, support them as they conduct the full workflow, and be available for follow up technical questions that may be asked. In addition to customer facing discussions, you will also be responsible for communicating customer feedback to internal product teams to ensure we continue to build solutions best suited for our customers. You may also contribute to scientific presentations for technical demonstrations.
As a manager, you will lead a team of highly skilled and experienced Field Applications Scientists to deliver world class support and training for Parse Biosciences Evercode portfolio, actively working to drive growth and stimulate new business. This role has the strong potential to expand into a full-time FAS Manager role as the FAS team grows.
IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL
As the FAS Manager (30%):
- Manage activities of the European FAS team to achieve superior customer satisfaction while driving platform adoption
- Maintain a high level of employee satisfaction and develop team members to their fullest potential
- Be a leader, motivate, coach, and advocate for your team on the European Sales and Support management teams
- Partner with global Sales and Support leadership to create a cross functional team to exceed our customers' requirements and actively drive process improvement
- Assist the FAS team to plan and organize activities to ensure efficient and effective customer support is provided, prioritize resources based on support capacity, business opportunity, and customer requirements
- Partner with the US FAS Manager and Technical Application Support team to drive strategies for growth and expansion of training offerings for Parse products
- Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback on a regular basis
- Establish procedures to monitor the results to achieve goals
As a Field Application Scientist (70%):
- Proactively communicate with customers to understand the goals and needs of their projects
- Provide technical guidance to customers on single cell experimental design
- Train and support new customers to ensure protocols are understood and followed properly
- Perform troubleshooting and provide assistance on customer experiments
- Work closely with product teams and contribute to customer facing technical documentation
- Collect feedback from current customers and communicate to product teams and management to help guide product development
- Keep up to date on the ever-evolving field of single cell genomics and relay observations of market shifts to management
- Deliver scientific presentations for internal or customer facing events
FOR THIS POSITION, WE LOOK FOR
- An advanced degree in molecular biology, genomics, or a related field, or an undergraduate degree with relevant experience
- 7+ years of experience in biotechnology, preferably in a customer-facing role as an FAS or TAS supporting genomics products
- Prior leadership experience within an R&D, Sales, or FAS team
- Experience performing next generation sequencing library preparation
- The ability to effectively communicate technical details to a broad scientific audience
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred, not required
- Experience performing single-cell RNA-seq assays in a laboratory setting
- Experience working with cell culture, tissue dissociation, cell sample preparation
- Experience performing bioinformatic analysis with genomics datasets
