Please note that this role does not focus on front-office investment risk.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management, the Manager performs a wide range of duties in support of the overall goals of the enterprise risk management program at BCI, including supporting the continual development and maturity of the program, collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and report on risk-specific insights, and providing support for the crisis management and corporate insurance programs.
The Manager is proactive, organized and inclusive in their communication across BCI and able to pivot to respond to risk events. The Manager plays a key role within the ERM team, adapting and contributing expertise and experience to deliver exceptional quality in risk management services.
WHAT YOU BRING
Must have

A combination of at least 6 years of enterprise risk management and investment industry experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Excellent written communication skills, and experience preparing visual reports, presentations, and dashboards communicating risk-related information to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner

A proven track record of strong communication skills and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk management frameworks, methodologies and tools

Detail-oriented and results-driven, with the ability to assess complex environments and implement pragmatic and effective processes

Strong knowledge of MS365 programs including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Preferred

Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CRM, CRMP, CPA)

Prior experience in implementing enterprise risk management programs

Prior experience in crisis management and insurance programs

Experience with data analysis and visualization
WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Updates and maintains the enterprise risk taxonomy and risk register
-
Updates and supports the monitoring and reporting framework for risk appetite and tolerance for BCI’s non-investment risks

Collects, organizes and visualizes risk metric data in collaboration with internal stakeholders

Analyzes and summarizes risk insights from a variety of internal and external sources for the quarterly risk report

Reviews and updates risk management policies, procedures, and methodologies, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with industry best practices

Manages the risk events database, conducts root cause analysis, and identifies opportunities for process improvement

Assists the Senior Manager in providing support to members of BCI’s risk committees, including assistance with risk identification, assessment, monitoring and project support as required

Assist the Senior Manager in drafting communications, such as briefings and other reports, on the status of risks and the ERM program, for internal and external stakeholders

Assists the Senior Manager in managing the corporate insurance program, acting as the primary contact for inquiries and maintaining strong relationships with the insurers.

Supports the Senior Manager in maintaining and enhancing the crisis management program
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Work from our downtown Victoria office. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week.
SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $120,000-$140,000.
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
