The Data Strategy Manager will leverage technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well managed data analysis solutions and capabilities. This position will be responsible for managing data and advanced analytics initiatives, data integration/engineering, and business intelligence and data warehousing. The Manager will also work closely with business stakeholders to establish and drive a long-term Data Strategy roadmap.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Partner with business leaders to create a culture that promotes data-driven decisions using structured and unstructured data.
Proactively drive the vision for data engineering and data warehouse across the enterprise, and define and execute a plan to achieve that vision.
Establish and maintain cross-functional relationships across the business units and key stakeholders in order to have an ongoing understanding of business needs and objectives, and deliver on those needs.
Manage, lead, and develop a high-performance data engineering and data warehouse team, including day-to-day assignments, bi-weekly milestone planning, 1-1s, quarterly objectives, and annual reviews.
Partner with all business units to continually grow the value of data warehouse platform by onboarding new data and drive adoption.
Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
Provide leadership and guidance for developing and maintaining application architecture and development standards which adhere to industry best practices.
Drive development of tools, reporting improvement and automation, and create new innovative and insightful data assets in a timely manner.
Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity.
Build a culture of engineering best practices, with an emphasis on data observability, quality, documentation, data governance, SLO and data contracts.
Define and manage SLOs for all data sets and processes running in production.
Monitor, measure, and improve key aspects of the Data Strategy and data platform, guided by established KPIs and SLOs.
Drive data quality across the products and data assets from all business areas.
Coordinate with Security and Compliance to ensure data is accessed, processed, and stored per standards.
Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.
Facilitate resource planning and forecasting.
Supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
Coordinate and oversee the efforts of multiple application development teams.
Envision and draft quarterly objectives, driven by requirements gathered from multiple business stakeholders.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
8+ years of experience in data warehouse, data migration, and data engineering
6+ years of experience with team member career development including reviews, promotions, demotions, and performance improvement
5+ years managing a team of data analysts/engineers/scientists
2+ years managing a team of principal/staff/lead level team members
Demonstrate a deep understanding of SQL and related databases
Deep knowledge of designing and building highly scalable data warehouses, data pipelines, data modeling, designing data lakes and big data analytics
Prior experience with cloud data warehouse, data streaming platforms and creating dimensional models
Experience with data pipeline, workflow management, orchestration tools like FiveTran, Dbt, AirFlow
Experience with data catalog, governance, quality and observability tools like Alation, Collibra, Monte Carlo, Acceldata
Familiarity with medallion architecture/data tiers
Experience using Python, Java, or Spark for data processing
Experience working with stakeholders and leaders to define and measure KPIs, SLO and other operating metrics
Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects
Strong collaboration skills in order to partner effectively across various levels of the organization
Ability to interpret and evaluate user informational needs and determine appropriate alternative solutions
Desired:
Experience creating and delivering multi-quarter roadmaps
Familiarity with data management policies and regulations (CPRA, SOX, PCI)
Domain experience in retail and experience in the auto parts industry
Ability to clearly articulate vision, mission, and objectives, and adapt the narrative appropriate to the audience
Experience with data visualization and BI tools like MicroStrategy, Domo, Tableau
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud services (AWS, Azure)
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, cloud storage, compute and hybrid (on-prem and cloud) data pipelines
