Identifies and evaluates internal controls, compliance with Children’s Wisconsin organizational policies, laws and regulations as well as opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborates with the Corporate Compliance leadership team in planning, scheduling and monitoring department activities. Provides operational and technical direction for compliance activities, and manages fraud and abuse program to support health plan operations. Oversees management of privacy inquiries and investigations, and develops strategies to enhance compliance. Assists in the development of department policies and procedures and evaluates and recommends methods for more efficient operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of three years of compliance or audit experience and a professional certification (Certified in Healthcare Compliance, Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent).
- Minimum of three years in a leadership role, with an ability to manage a diverse team of independent professionals.
- Thorough understanding of the health care environment, including areas of risk for healthcare fraud, waste and abuse and associated controls for mitigation of risks.
- Requires a strong ability to read, analyze, interpret and present complex material including deciphering legal documents and government regulations.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with all levels of management, staff and outside individuals to ensure risk mitigation strategies are appropriate and effective.
- Requires the ability to set priorities and to work independently to handle the most complex issues, acting as a subject matter expert in unique situations.
- Requires the ability to work with and assist departments on implementation of new regulations and requirements including consulting on documentation of policies, procedures, internal controls and monitoring of activities.
- Maintains a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality, and trust.
